NOTE to worksop attendees: If you are coming in before September 13th, it will be necessary to find lodging at an alternate hotel as the Georgia Center is completely full until the night of September 13th. When you make your reservation, Georgia Center staff can help you reserve a room at the Holiday in at the $109 per nnight rate.

We have also reserved a block of rooms at the Hotel Indigo for September 11-15 for a rate of $109 per night. This hotel is a LEED certified hotel in downtown Athens. It is very convenient to downtown nightlife and a brisk 1.2 mile walk to the GA center. Campus buses and cabs are available as well. Transport from Atlanta Airport to Athens: Groome Transportation Service provides regularly scheduled service (hourly) from the Atlanta airport with transport to the Georgia Center or other downtown Athens hotels. See Fares are $34 one way or $63 roundtrip. 800-896-9928.

You can also fly Georgia Skies for $120 roundtrip from ATL to Athens.

Date and Location

Pre-conference workshops will be on Monday September 12th and Tuesday September 13th. A welcoming reception is planned for 6:00 pm September 13, and the opening session will be 8:00 am Wednesday. morning, and the conference will conclude Friday September 16th at noon.

Registration Costs

Event Costs:

  • Full Conference $150 on/before 8/12/11, $200 after 8/12/11
  • Full Conference, Student $75 on/before 8/12/11, $100 after 8/12/11
  • Wednesday or Thursday only - $75 on/before 8/12/11, $100 after 8/12/11
  • Wednesday or Thursday only, Student - $40 on/before 8/12/11, $75 after 8/12/11
  • Monday Erosion Workshop - $50
  • Tuesday workshop, half day - $25
  • Tuesday workshop, full day - $35

Event Cancellation Policies:

(1) A cancellation received by 5:00 p.m. ET on or before September 2, 2011 will be refunded, minus a $35 processing fee. No refunds will be issued thereafter; substitutions will be allowed. (2) To change or cancel your registration, call 800-884-1381, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET. (3) If an event is cancelled for any reason, The Georgia Center will not be responsible for any charges related to travel.

  • Classic Queen/King Room (one queen/king bed) - $89
  • Select Room (two double or queen beds) - $119

Workshops and workshop reimbursement

Southern Region Extension Agents and Specialists who attend this workshop may be eligible for reimbursement of Conference and Workshop registration fees. Contact Mike Smolen or Sam Dennis for details. Reimbursement will be limited to the first 20 attendees.

Resource Fair

Thursday evening September 15 will be an opportunity to showcase and share your most innovative and exciting water education programs, materials, models, games, etc. that you have developed. To reserve space at the Resource Fair, please fill in the Resource Fair proposal form.
